I have tomorrow off.  Maybe I'll get out the Old School DVD and watch some of the old skits. I need some cheering up. (Volume I, that is… at least until somebody buys be the more recent ones).

Sesame Street turned 40 yesterday. I'm 38 — not that much younger. I've grown up with the show. And while I may have missed the first few seasons due to age, I feel a slight kinship to the show and its characters. While I relate more to Oscar (he really is kind-hearted down deep, you know), Ernie was always my favorite. And you can't forget Don Music — a classic character (sadly forgotten and written off in the mid-1970s) who I will always have a connection with.

Happy Birthday, Sesame Street. May you have 40 more years of educational and entertainment excellence.

My favorite character on Sesame Street was Grover. He was always so kind and earnest! I just looked online to see all of the books he was featured in, and I distinctly remember enjoying "Grover Takes Care of Baby." The baby in the book was actually cute, though — not like human babies. I think all babies should be fuzzy.
